Getting Here It is very important to have mexican insurance for your vehicle and our clients have been very happy with BAJABOUND insurance company. It's easy and you can get it online by visiting BAJABOUND.COM Bahia Asuncion is in a rather remote area of the west coast of mid baja so getting there is an adventure! When you get to Vizcaino, 45 minutes south of Guerrero Negro (the mid point on the peninsula and beginning of Baja Sur), you may want to go to the bank across from the Pemex station as there isn't one in Asuncion and fill up with gas there too as it is more expensive in Asuncion. It is about 2.5 hours from there to Asuncion (driving normal speeds) so if it is late in the day, you should stay there or in Guerrero Negro which is the mid point on the peninsula. Across from the gas station is a store with a phone where it is a good idea to call us so we know you are on your way....so if you don't get here in a reasonable amount of time, we can come and look for you. All kinds of cars take this road but if you have a low vehicle watch out for rocks and potholes! Don't worry as if you break down or get a flat, nearly everyone stops to help you. You turn right off the trans peninsula highway just after the Pemex gas station. This paved road takes you through the fruit and vegetable farms of Vizcaino and out to the coast and can have some very nasty potholes so make sure you drive slowly. There are also some rather large sand dunes that sometimes cover the entire highway so keep watch for those too....best to take this road during the day! After about 72km, you turn left at the sign onto the newly paved road. A mile down is the entrance to the Pronghorn Antelope Reserve, which is well worth the short stop to see over 200 of these magnificent animals close up and nice place to have a picnic under their palapas and see their visitor center. there are some dips and wash outs so dont drive too fast. There is about 10 km of dirt road yet to be paved and when you come to a "Y", follow the dirt road that curves left with the power poles lining it for about 40 km till you come to a crossroad and hang a right which takes you into town along the beach and into Asuncion. The road to the left takes you to the best surf point about a kilometer away, then on to several other fish camps, Punta Prieta, San Hipolito(where you can get lunch at Tita's, Juan's sister's place on the beach), La Bocana and Punta Abreojos where you can take the road back to the main highway coming out at Crucero del Pacifico closer to San Ignacio. It’s a very scenic loop along the ocean with lots of places to camp and friendly fisher families. It’s mostly well maintained but does have a few rough spots. All types of vehicles use this road and everyone helps each other with flat tires, breakdowns etc. so no need to worry. To find CAMPO SIRENA where most of the rentals and campground are, turn left just after the BIG pink building at the entrance to the village, then a quick right to the Camp. To find us at the Blowhole B&B, just follow the pavement till it ends and keep going straight on a dirt road till you get to the ocean and turn left..follow the ocean road until you see our house out on the rock with the pangas and sail boat parked in front! For those of you with GPS, our coordinates at our place are 27 degrees 07min 54 North by 114 dergrees 17 min 82 West or just ask anybody where Juan & Shari live or La Bufadora. Loreto is the closest airport, 6 hours from here...so you can rent a car there as well. So why don’t you come and see for yourself the stunning beaches and meet the friendly locals who anxiously await your arrival. For more info contact
